Accessibility

We aim for WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance on public pages at whatsondurham.com. This statement describes our approach, scope, and how to get help.

• Semantic HTML, a skip link to main content, and one primary heading per page
• Keyboard-accessible navigation, forms, and dialogs (including the chat assistant)
• Visible focus indicators and support for reduced motion
• An optional in-page Accessibility toolbar (font size, themes, reading mask, page structure)

Scope

This target applies to public site pages (events, news, blog, places, search, submissions). The internal analytics dashboard (/dashboard) and Sanity Studio are out of scope.

Known limitations

• Third-party widgets — Advertising (Google AdSense), bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile), and session analytics (Microsoft Clarity in production) are provided by vendors; we cannot fully control their accessibility.
• User-generated and CMS content — Image alt text and link text depend on editorial quality; report issues on specific pages.
• Swipe navigation on some article pages is optional; equivalent Previous / Next links are always available.
