Paid Relationship Disclosure
Last updated:
What’s On Durham (WOD) may earn money or other benefits from some of what you see on the site. When we do, we say so, next to the content, in plain words.
The relationships we label
- Sponsored: a business or organization pays for a placement or promotion. It is labeled Sponsored.
- Partner: a business works with WOD, for example by offering a Durham Passport reward. It is labeled Partner.
- Affiliate: a link where WOD may earn a commission if you book or buy, at no extra cost to you. Such links are labeled.
- Advertising: ads, if turned on, are shown in ad slots marked as ads. AdSense is currently off.
What payment does not do
- It does not buy a listing, a favorable description, or a higher position in editorial lists, search, or recommendations.
- It does not turn a sponsored item into an “Editor’s pick.”
- It does not stop us from correcting or removing a listing.
Read the full approach in our Editorial Policy.
Free items and hospitality
If we receive a free meal, ticket, or product and write about it, we will say so in the story.
